Information For Faculty

Faculty at URI play an essential role in our mission to provide access to students with disabilities.  The Office of Disability, Access, and Inclusion serves as a resource to promote equal access and inclusion for all community members at URI.

Syllabus Statements

It is helpful for students with disabilities to know how to access their academic accommodations in your course.  Disability, Access, and Inclusion collaborated with Faculty Senate to create the language below for inclusion in your course syllabus.

For Kingston or Bay Campus courses:

Students with Disabilities: Your access in this course is important. Please send me your Disability, Access, and Inclusion (DAI) accommodation letter early in the semester so that we have adequate time to discuss and arrange your approved academic accommodations.  If you have not yet established services through DAI, please contact them to engage in a confidential conversation about the process for requesting reasonable accommodations in the classroom.

DAI is located in room 302 of the Memorial Union, 401-874-2098, uri.edu/disability, dai@.uri.edu

Oral announcements to this effect during the first two to three classes are extremely helpful in supporting student disclosure.

Please contact a Disability, Access, and Inclusion staff member if you have any questions about the purpose of this statement, or how it should be used.
