Engineering for Democracy Institute

Supporting Free, Fair, & Efficient Elections For All.

The Engineering for Democracy Institute (EDI) is a collective of students, professors, and election experts with a focus on improving operational efficiencies in U.S. elections.

Collaborating with election officials and organizations across the country, the EDI team utilizes data to guide and suggest best practices in voting line management, voting location layout and flow, and election resource allocation, to name a few.

EDI believes in the transformative power of data to leverage improvements for the Election Day experience, for both the voter and poll worker alike. Our rigorous research and scientific methodologies serve as the fulcrum, addressing areas that need concentrated support in past and future elections nationwide.
