Supporting Free, Fair, & Efficient Elections For All.
The Engineering for Democracy Institute’s (EDI) mission is to develop, distribute, and support the use of engineering tools and methods for the improvement of elections and the democratic process.
EDI is a collective of students, professors, and election experts focused on improving operational efficiency in U.S. elections.
Collaborating with election officials and organizations across the country, the EDI team utilizes data to guide and inform best practices in voting line management, voting location layout and flow, vote-by-mail processes, and election resource allocation, among other areas.
EDI believes in the transformative power of data to leverage improvements in the Election Day experience, for both the voter and poll worker alike. Our rigorous research and scientific methodologies serve as the fulcrum, addressing areas that need concentrated support in past and future elections nationwide.
Opportunity for STEM professionals and students to understand the unique challenges in election science and get involved.
