Clinical Experiences
The Educational Leadership and Policy Program at the University of Rhode Island provides graduate candidates with a comprehensive blend of theory and practical experience to develop essential leadership and management skills. Candidates must complete a minimum of 500 clinical experience hours, ensuring they are well-prepared to support and enhance student learning. The field work and internships are designed to be integrated with candidates’ current professional roles, allowing them to apply leadership concepts in their existing school or district settings while fulfilling program requirements.
Fieldwork Experience (135 hours):
Candidates complete 15 hours of fieldwork in each of the following courses, applying leadership concepts in real-world settings:
- Engaging Communities, Legal/Ethical Issues, Fiscal Management, Operations, Program Evaluation, Supervision, Instructional Leadership, Human Capital, School Improvement
Practicum Experiences (400 hours):
Candidates engage in six practicum experiences across varied grade levels and settings during their internship coursework:
- Internship I & II + Seminar
