Claude E. P. Mayo

Biography

Over my 20+ years in higher education service on both the academic and student affairs side of higher education institutions, I have learned that I like nothing better than the opportunity to positively impact the student experience. Whether engaged in an interaction with a single student who needs that timely support or developing practice or policy that will provide the system or resources that enhance student success, I thrive on knowing that I am helping those who are next up to lead on our campuses and in society. Working with CSP students – who themselves are next up for impacting student experience and assuming leadership on our collegiate campuses – allows me to achieve that longitudinally through the great number of students to come.

Teaching and working in higher education is a dynamic experience that cannot be replicated in most fields nor industries; we scholar-practitioners are simultaneously the research and result of practice. Recognizing and deconstructing that fact with others who are similarly compassionate about and committed to improving the student experience is professional development and personal fulfillment all in one!

I am a native Bostonian (MA) who now lives in Connecticut with my wife, two children, and two dogs with a healthy appetite for good food., hip hop culture, and all things Boston sports!
