Welcome Day begins promptly at 9 a.m. with a Welcome to URI Presentation in the Ryan Center (1 Lincoln Almond Plaza, Kingston, RI 02881).
When you first arrive on campus, please go directly to the Ryan Center. We encourage you to arrive at least 30 minutes beforehand to allow plenty of time for parking and check-in. The Ryan Center will open its doors at 8:15 a.m. You do not need to register to park at the Ryan Center.

- Dean’s Welcome | 11AM and 12PM | FCAE 010/025 Join Dean Anthony Marchese for an introduction to the College of Engineering. Learn about our mission, academic programs, and the opportunities available to you as a future Rhody Engineer. This is your chance to hear from the dean and ask questions about your path ahead.
- Academic Program Showcase, FCAE Toray Commons Explore Your Path! Meet our faculty and learn about our world-renowned International Engineering Program (IEP), academic degree programs – Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Ocean Engineering. Don’t forget to ask us about our minors in AI/Machine Learning, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Entrepreneurship, and many more.
- Tour of the Engineering Complex, departing from Toray Commons in groups of 15 to 20 Discover our Engineering Spaces! Explore key facilities that support hands-on learning and innovation. The tour includes the new Ideation and Innovation Studio, employer engagement room, capstone design studios, machine shop, academic labs, and active learning classrooms. Tours depart from near the Welcome Table in the main lobby. Allow 30 minutes.
- Student Organization Showcase, FCAE Lower Level Get Involved! The College of Engineering is home to over 25 student organizations spanning a wide range of engineering disciplines and interests. From professional societies and competition teams to community service, these groups offer opportunities to apply classroom knowledge, develop leadership skills, and build connections with peers and industry professionals.
- Academic Lab Explore our labs! Explore the hands-on academic labs where undergraduate students apply engineering principles to real-world challenges. Faculty and students will demonstrate key experiments, tools, and technologies used in each program. Visit the designated labs to see how engineering concepts come to life through interactive learning.
Drive to the Narragansett Bay Campus for a tour of the Ocean Engineering Program
Please allow 20-30 minutes to drive to the Ocean Science & Exploration Center, Room 202 (215 South Ferry Road, Narragansett, RI 02882) for a guided tour and lab demonstration at 2:00 p.m.
Directions:
From Upper College Road on the URI Kingston Campus, make a left at the traffic light on to Route 138E (Kingstown Road). Continue to Route 1 and cross the junction (major intersection of Route 138E and Route 1) onto Bridgetown Rd. Continue on Bridgetown Rd. to South Ferry Rd. Turn right on to Pier Road.

Explore the Ocean Engineering program on the Narragansett Bay Campus. At URI, ocean engineering students get their feet wet early through hands-on field experiences and opportunities to work directly with faculty on cutting-edge research. As a leader in ocean instrumentation, robotics, underwater acoustics, marine hydrodynamics, coastal and offshore structures, offshore power generation, and more, the URI Ocean Engineering program prepares students for dynamic careers and meaningful contributions to the health of our planet.
