Hudson Institute Political Studies offers undergraduates a Summer Fellowship in political theory and practice in order to broaden and deepen an understanding of policy and American political principles.
This fellowship is focused on writing and understanding societies besides our own on a deeper level through research and reporting. In exchange for a letter of intent and a strong plan for research through a deeply immersive experience in another culture, the Institute of Current World Affairs can potentially fund an entire project for an individual and their immediate family, if they choose to move with the individual conducting research.
Individuals who study abroad are expected to have the necessary language skills to succeed in their research in that country in addition to strong English speaking and writing skills and strong ties to the United States if they are not a U.S. citizen. Candidates must also be under the age of thirty-six at the time of the letter of intent’s due date and must be finished with their current degree within six months of their selection, whether that is undergraduate, graduate, or other studies.
The FAO Schwarz Fellowships are designed to develop leaders committed to creating social change. The Fellowships are paid two-year positions with benefits at leading nonprofit host organizations in Boston, New York City and Philadelphia.
Freedom House is seeking three motivated candidates for the nine-month Freedom in the World. Each Junior Fellow will be hired to join Freedom House as a fixed-term, salaried employee, eligible for a generous benefits package. Junior Fellows will be responsible for managing the research for one of the six geographic regions covered by Freedom in the World. The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship funded by the German Bundestag and State Department. It annually provides 75 American and 75 German young professionals between the ages of 18½–24 the opportunity to spend one year in each other’s countries studying, interning, and living with hosts.
This fellowship is designed for graduate students or recent graduate students who have an interest in pursuing policy that is focused on legislation that affects the lives of women. If selected, fellows work forty (40) hours per week as a legislative assistant for a congressional office working on improving women’s rights and meet weekly to discuss the current issues affecting women. Fellows can come from nearly any discipline, but need to show a strong desire to work to improve the lives of women. The fellowship runs from January to July.
There are opportunities based on both New York and Washington, D.C. that include focuses on Asian American studies, global policy, marketing, publication, and more. These internships ask for between fourteen to eighteen hour per week and are open for fall and spring semesters as well as during the summer. These positions are filled on a rolling basis.
The types of internships vary and students apply for them individually, meaning that students can apply for the topics that truly interest them. Most internships are looking for students with strong technology and communication skills, but exact specifications, including major preference, will vary based on the positions that students are interested in.
