Once You Are Admitted

Commit to a Program and Complete Post-Decision Process

Once committed to a program, complete all items in your URIAbroad account under Post-decision phase. We understand that plans may change; however, so please be aware of any withdrawal policies and penalties associated in your selected program.

Pre-departure paperwork and off-campus registration

Upon admission into a study away program, all outgoing URI study away students must complete the steps listed below before going off campus. Please submit all documents to the Office of International Education by the date outlined below.

Deadlines 
Summer, fall semester, and academic year programsPrior to May 1*
J-Term, and spring semester programsPrior to December 1*

*Students studying in Italy for a semester or academic year should submit paperwork as soon as they are admitted into their program in order to secure documentation to facilitate the student visa process.

Attend the Mandatory Pre-departure Orientation

Attend the pre-departure orientation where you will be informed of topics pertaining to health and safety tips, preparing for your departure, currency conversions, cross-cultural survival skills, academic credit and expectations, and returning home.

Dates and times are found here.  Details will be posted on our main Education Abroad calendar.  Students participating on a URI Faculty-Led Program will receive information related to their pre-departure orientation in their official admission letter. This letter can be found in URIAbroad under Documents.
