The mission of the College of the Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) Greenhouse Range is to provide the highest quality plant care services and facilities in support of teaching, research, and extension programs within CELS and the greater URI community. The facility is comprised of 15,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse space, two laboratories, a classroom, a growth chamber room, a potting/soil room, and offices.

The Horridge Conservatory houses an ecologically diverse plant collection with species native to tropical, desert, and temperate environments from across the world. The conservatory is open to visitors weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The URI botanical collections database catalogs over 1,000 plants in the Horridge Conservatory, botanic gardens, and the College of Pharmacy’s Youngken Medicinal Gardens.

The URI Greenhouse Range, including the Horridge Conservatory, is located at 6 Greenhouse Rd., Kingston, RI 02881. Visitor parking information can be found on the URI Transportation and Parking page.

The Greenhouse Range houses the URI Biocontrol Lab, a collection of medicinal plants for the College of Pharmacy Medicinal Garden, and research plants for the Plant Biotechnology Lab.

The Growth Chamber Facility is also located in the URI Greenhouse Range.
