URI Faculty and Students Offered Free Access to AWS Kiro

URI faculty and students have a new opportunity to explore Kiro, an AI-powered development platform from AWS designed to help move ideas into working applications.

Through work with the URI Foundation, AWS is offering URI access to Kiro as a direct-to-student benefit. Under the proposed program, URI students would be able to register with their URI email address and use Kiro at no cost for one year, with the possibility that access may continue beyond the first year.

Kiro is designed for AI-assisted software development and may be useful in courses, research projects, student capstone work, and other project-based learning settings where students are building applications, prototypes, data tools, or computational workflows.

URI is especially interested in identifying a small number of faculty who would be willing to try the platform and help evaluate where it could be useful for teaching, student research, AI and computational research activities, and project-based learning. AWS has also offered participating faculty 9 months of complimentary access.

Faculty whose teaching, research, or student projects involve AI-assisted software development are encouraged to review the Kiro materials and consider whether this opportunity may be relevant:
