The URI Library Innovation Labs provide students and faculty with access to interdisciplinary spaces, emerging technologies, and hands-on support that turn ideas into action. We support academic coursework, creative production, research, and entrepreneurial exploration by offering tools for media production, prototyping, immersive technologies, and collaborative work. Through training, mentorship, and flexible access to equipment and spaces, the Innovation Labs empower the URI community to experiment, learn by doing, and develop practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.
New Course: CSV 303 Ideas in Action
Turn Curiosity into Real-World Experience
Have an idea you want to explore, a project you want to build, or an interest you want to turn into something real? Ideas in Action gives you the flexibility, mentorship, and support to make it happen while earning academic credit.
This student-driven course allows you to design a hands-on project around your own interests and goals. Projects may include creating a podcast or film, developing an app or AI product, launching a business or community initiative, conducting independent research, building a prototype, or creating a professional portfolio.
Along the way, you’ll work with mentors, develop practical skills, document your progress, and turn your experience into something you can share with future employers, graduate programs, collaborators, or your community.
CSV 303 is available for 1–4 credits, graded Pass/Fail, and may be used as a free elective.
