URI chapter of The Coastal Society organizes kayak cleanup event

On Saturday, September 26th the URI Chapter of The Coastal Society held a kayak cleanup event on the Narrow River in Rhode Island. The group partnered with the Narrow River Preservation Association for this event. Over 20 TCS members and friends boarded kayaks with materials to collect plastic and other debris in this local waterway. The TCS leadership team ensured that all kayakers maintained appropriate social distancing and wore masks whenever participants were in close proximity to one another. Starting at 10am, participants collected trash along the coasts, around Sedge Island, under the Boston Neck Road (Route 1A) bridge, both sides of The Narrows, to the Narragansett Town Beach – where they dropped off approximately 30 pounds of trash to be properly disposed of.
