Examines natural and human-induced hazards affecting coastal communities.
In this course, students will learn about coastal hazards and natural disasters, and specifically about human responses to coastal hazards. we learn how humans respond to the spectrum of coastal hazards, through policy and through individual/collective actions, including why and how human responses can have adverse outcomes. We also learn what environmental, social, economic, and policy factors make some individuals/communities more or less vulnerable or resilient to various coastal hazards.
