High consumption of added sugars increases our chances of suffering from several different chronic diseases, including diabetes and several neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. But there is a simple way to lower our chances of contracting either disease, it is by simply consuming maple syrup instead of other sweeteners.
Maple syrup comes from the sap of maple trees. It is a delicious, sweet, and 100% natural product. There is a reason why maple syrup is the smarter sweetener.
Evidence found in the research “Anti-glycation and anti-oxidative effects of a phenolic-enriched maple syrup extract and its protective effects on normal human colon cells,” Liu and others reports that the consumption of plant foods, including fruits, vegetables, and maple syrup, present beneficial antioxidative effects by reversing the build-up of added sugars, preventing the adverse effects on our health, for instance, the development of diabetes, and diabetic complications such as damage to the nerves outside the brain, damage to the retina of the eye, and damage to the small units inside the kidneys that clean up blood, as well as protecting our colon from the build-up of sugars.
