Did you know that November is National Diabetes Month?
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recognizes this month as National Diabetes Month to bring awareness about the rapidly growing Type II diabetes epidemic in the United States. One of the best ways to prevent this issue is through education and access to appropriate resources.
So, what are some ways you can help yourself reduce the risk of developing diabetes? Research at the University of Rhode Island is trying to answer this question by looking at how maple products can help prevent diabetes.
Red maple bark extract was tested to see how well it could lower blood sugar levels, which helps prevent diabetes. The findings showed red maple bark extract was able to lower blood sugar levels by inhibiting blood glucose levels from rising after eating a meal.
These findings suggest that maple products are a great alternative sweetener option in comparison to refined sugars. Support the ADA’s mission this November and make the necessary steps to lower your risk of diabetes!
