M.S. in Systems Engineering

Program Requirements

M.S. students can choose a thesis and non-thesis option. A total of 30 credits is required for either option, with at least 15 credits in graduate-level industrial and systems engineering courses including ISE 533 (Advanced Statistical Methods for Research and Industry) and ISE 555 (Deterministic Systems Optimization).

Thesis Option

The thesis option requires:

  • 30 credits
  • 21-24 credits of course work
  • 6-9 credits of thesis research under ISE 599

Non-Thesis Option

The non-thesis option is available to part-time students, or in exceptional circumstances, to students with permission from the graduate studies committee. This option requires:

  • 30 credits
  • One course requiring a substantial paper involving a significant independent study
  • A written comprehensive examination
