This guide establishes a set of standard methods and procedures for creating site-specific soil surveys in Rhode Island. It provides criteria for base maps, mapping scales, mapping protocols, and analysis of variability. RI NEMO produced the guide with funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with support from the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH).
Housed on the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) Stormwater Solutions website, the Soil Erosion and Sediment Control webpage hosts four key resources:
- A four-part online soil erosion and sediment control (SESC) training program tailored to construction in RI, thanks to a partnership between URI Cooperative Extension and StormwaterONE, with funding from RIDOT and support from RIDEM
- A soil erosion and sediment control factsheet series, which offers five factsheets co-produced by RI NEMO, RIDOT, and RIDEM
- RIDEM’s Soil Erosion and Sediment Control website, which provides extensive information about regulations and guidance
- A checklist for construction site soil erosion control violations, which provides examples of successes and failures of controls at construction sites.
