International Student Checklist

After you’ve been accepted 

Please make sure to check either the first-year or transfer checklist and complete the following:

  • Work with the Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) to receive your I-20 and start the student visa application process as soon as possible. Email us if you have any questions at issoff@etal.uri.edu.

  • Join one of our virtual pre-arrival meetings to help prepare you for living and learning at URI. All events take place during Eastern Time (ET)
    • Thursday, June 6, 9–10 a.m. International Students Pre-Arrival Orientation: Meeting for New International Undergraduate Students. Register here.
    • Saturday, June 8, 9–10 a.m. International Students Pre-Arrival Orientation: Meeting for New International Undergraduate Students. Register here.
  • Attend one of our International Student Welcome Week virtual information sessions (All events take place during Eastern Time (ET))
    • Thursday, August 1, 9–10 a.m. International Welcome Week Information Session: Meeting for New International Undergraduate Students. Register here.
    • Saturday, August 3, 9–10 a.m. International Welcome Week Information Session: Meeting for New International Undergraduate Students. Register here.
  • Attend International Welcome Week Events
    • Wednesday, August 28, 9–4 p.m. Arrival Day for international Students (start of International Welcome Week)
    • Friday, August 30, 11–2:15 p.m. Virtual Immigration Orientation for all International students (undergrads and grads) – Mandatory
