FAFSA Progress and Admission Update
We understand that this year’s college admission process has included significant challenges due to ongoing issues with the implementation of the new FAFSA, which is overseen by the U.S. Department of Education. At URI, we’re committed to assisting and supporting your decision-making process. If you require more time to make your decision, please feel free to take it; there will be no penalties.

At this time, we are encouraging those who would like to attend URI this fall to pay their deposits by the end of May. For first-year students wishing to reside on campus, on-campus housing will be available through this timeline.

First-Year Checklist

STEPS TO COMPLETE AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED

  • Complete your Enrollment Confirmation Form. This will let us know your plans for the upcoming semester. Once you submit your form, you’ll be able to pay your enrollment deposit via your applicant status page. If you don’t plan to enroll at URI, you can also let us know that through the form.
  • Log into your applicant status page to pay your deposit (NOT required for Talent Development Scholars). Once you complete your Enrollment Confirmation Form, you can pay your enrollment deposit by clicking the link in the checklist in your portal. Be sure to share your excitement by using #InAtURI on social media!
    • An enrollment deposit confirms your intent to attend URI. The deposit is $300 for commuters or $500 if you plan to live in a residence hall. Note that enrollment and housing deposits are refundable until May 15, 2024. After this date, deposits are not refundable.
  • Review URI’s Financial Aid Checklist for information on how to apply for aid and navigate the FAFSA process.

STEPS TO COMPLETE AFTER YOU HAVE PAID YOUR DEPOSIT

SET UP ACCOUNTS AND LOG-IN

  • Set-up your e-Campus account.
Note: Students must complete this step before proceeding to the next steps.
After you make your deposit and receive your URI ID number, you should set up your e-Campus account through the e-Campus registration system. You’ll need to enter your first name, last name, and student ID number. You’ll then receive a username and create an e-Campus password — keep these somewhere safe!
  • Activate Your Single Sign-On (SSO).
For most students, 1-2 business days after you pay your deposit and set up your e-Campus account, your Single Sign On (SSO) and e-mail account will be active, but you must set up your Single Sign-On (SSO) password to complete the process. Your URI SSO gives you convenient, secure access to many URI applications — so don’t forget this step!
    • Once complete, you can start using your new URI SSO to access all of your key programs and systems. These include, but are not limited to, your URI Gmail account, Microsoft tools, and Brightspace.
  • Contact the IT Service desk if you have questions or need assistance.
  • Access URI Email: After setting up your SSO, you can go to gmail.com and log in with your URI SSO credentials to start using your URI email and all of our key programs and systems.
  • Complete your Student Financial Responsibility Agreement. This step is mandatory for all URI students. The agreement clearly explains our policies related to e-billing, late payment penalties, contact methods, etc.  You will need to log into e-Campus, click the Financial Responsibility Agreement item in your To-Do List, and follow the steps provided. (Note: Follow the link above. Do not try to log into e-Campus financials.)
  • Complete your cybersecurity training. Cybersecurity awareness training is critical in minimizing the serious cybersecurity threats posed to end users by phishing attacks and social engineering. Please complete the training prior to July 31, 2024 and you will be entered into a raffle for some URI swag.

Orientation and Advising

Housing and Food

  • Complete your Housing Application by June 12, 2024, 4 p.m. ET.
  • Roommate Search (optional; link available May 1 in MyHousing app): Deadline: June 12, 2024, 4 p.m. ET. NOTE: If you miss the priority housing deadlines, you can still submit a housing deposit and apply to live with us using the Late First-Year Student Housing application. (Available June 14, 2024). Housing will be assigned on a rolling basis if/when space becomes available. However, we may not be able to assign you to your LLC or with a preferred roommate.
  • Select your Meal Plan or the Campus Plus Plan will be selected for you. (You can change your selection anytime before September 13, 2024). For dietary accommodations, please contact Karen Orabona, our Registered Dietitian: karenorabona@uri.edu.

STEPS TO COMPLETE AFTER ORIENTATION

HEALTH SERVICES

Learn more about the steps you need to take to fulfill URI Health Services requirements.

  • You must access your patient portal before August 16, 2024. This is also where you will find instructions on how to waive school health insurance (if applicable).

BILLING AND FINANCIAL AID

If you are a new student, and have not already done so, you will need to create your Flywire account to access your Fall 2024 semester billing account for viewing and payment. To access your account, please do the following:

  1.  Go to https://uri.myflywire.com/login
  2. Log in with your email address and password. (If this is your first visit to the platform, you will need to click the Create New Account link and follow the prompts.)

Important Financial Aid Advisory

With this year’s changes to the FAFSA process, and the system adjustments needed to accommodate the new rules and formulas, our awarding timeline has been a bit delayed. If you don’t see your aid award posted, it may still be in process. You will receive an email from Financial Aid with the subject line “Your URI Financial Aid is Ready” when your aid is posted or revised.

  • Prior to Sep 1, 2024 – Are you a first-time student loan borrower?  Be sure to complete your entrance counseling and master promissory note to avoid disbursement delays.  Visit:  https://web.uri.edu/financial-aid/loans/federal-direct-student-loan/
