Important Steps

In addition to these steps below, TD students must follow the steps on the first-year checklist to set up their accounts, take the math placement exam, complete their advising form, apply for housing and meal plans, etc. Please monitor your email and refer to the First-Year New Student Checklist for additional items.

Attend
TD Prep

March 14, 2026: Attendance is mandatory.
PREP is designed to prepare accepted TD Scholars for a successful transition to the University of Rhode Island. Each Scholar must attend and stay for the duration of the event. Should you be unable to attend due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, please contact our main office. Information related to PREP will be sent via email to applicants who have been accepted to URI through TD.

  • Complete the Intent to Enroll Form and TD Grant Eligibility Contract. These documents are made available at PREP. Note: TD students do not need to submit an enrollment deposit.

Welcome Day

All accepted students are highly encouraged to attend one of the URI Welcome Days

Welcome Days for accepted students are

  • Saturday, March 28
  • Saturday, April 11
  • Sunday, April 19

Welcome Days have been designed especially for admitted and committed students, families, and supporters to help you learn more about URI and begin your journey on the Rhode to Becoming a Ram. You’ll be able to: 

  • Take walking tours around campus and experience the surrounding area.
  • Connect with current and other new students and their families. 
  • See residence halls and try our amazing food.
  • Commit to URI, celebrate your decision, and complete next steps.
  • Learn more about opportunities to participate in campus life.
  • Meet faculty and staff who will support you inside and outside of the classroom.

Register for
Summer Orientation

Register for Orientation after committing to URI and at least one week before your chosen Orientation date.

All new students are strongly encouraged to attend URI Orientation, where you will meet other new students, finalize your course schedule, get your ID, and learn more about campus. Family/Supporter Orientation will also be available during the student time slots. We look forward to meeting you at your Orientation session—Go Rhody! Registration will be available in March 2026.

Attend TD
Summer Success Program

July 5-August 15, 2026: Attendance is mandatory.
Live on campus and participate in college transition activities. Successful completion of this program is required to be fully admitted in the fall semester. There is no fee charged for participation in the Summer Success Program.
