Location: Middletown, Connecticut, USA

About:

When Jill was a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts MFA in the Creative Writing program, she took a year-long course in biography writing with Stephen Oates. He wrote Let the Trumpet Sound: A Biography of Martin Luther King. Although Jill planned to be a novelist, when she read that book, she was awed by the power of nonviolence and shocked that she’d never been made aware of that aspect of Dr. King’s work. “Someone should make a movie about that,” Jill thought, and today, she is a screenwriter tackling a script about nonviolence. Jill also teaches both high school and college. Jill has a husband and four adult children. They work hard to cultivate an environment of love and trust in their home, and that has given them a rich field for practicing many of the principles of nonviolence.
