Lobsang is a visiting scholar at the Center for Spring Semester, 2018. He was born in Tibet, and started his Buddhist studies at Gaden Dhondup Ling monastery when he was thirteen years old. In 1992, he escaped from Tibet and joined Drepung Loseling monastary in India. He was awarded a Geshe Lharampa degree by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and also received his diploma in advanced tantric studies at Gyuto Tantric College in Dharamsala, India. He has served the monastic community in different positions, including secretary of Drepung Loseling Educational Fund and editor of Drepung Loseling Magazine. He has taught many undergraduate and graduate monk students at Drepung Loseling Monastic University.
