In 2014, when the Black Lives Matter movement was shifting into overdrive. Tara was cast in the movie Selma as civil rights martyr Viola Liuzzo. She says, “I had never heard of her, or Selma, or thought for more than two seconds about my responsibility as a fellow human to all the modern day traumas my fellow humans were suffering.” In the space of a few months she was catapulted through the stories of Dr. King and friends from the silent majority to a person who wants to shift in activism. Figuring out how she fit into the movement responsibly has been her journey ever since. Her experience in the movie, Selma, brought about and incredibly amount of growth in social consciousness, history and activism.
