About:

Connie Blunden is a lifelong educator with over thirty years of experience. As a classroom history teacher she has taught a range of courses at every level from sixth through twelfth grade. After training at URI she designed a high school course that delves into the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and includes an educational trip through the historic south. As a program administrator her focus is on cultivating essential skills for democratic citizenship and leadership among her students.

Thanks to the University of Rhode Island, Connie has received three levels of Kingian nonviolence certification and has led training in Ohio, Connecticut, Alabama and Illinois. Connie’s Board experience includes The Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth and Reconciliation in Selma, Alabama; The Akanksha Fund in New York City; and the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools Commission for Professional Development. Connie has been recognized by the YWCA and the Boys and Girls Club for her contributions to community building and has earned distinction for excellence in teaching.

Connie has a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a Master’s degree from Columbia University.
