URI Providence campus to host public seminar on Ebola, today, Oct. 16

WHAT: The University of Rhode Island will host a public seminar about the Ebola virus and its Rhode Island connection, including discussions of the West African epidemic and its implications for Rhode Island; prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease; and how to assist with the Liberian relief efforts. Liberian students at URI will be on hand to collect donations to be sent to Liberia.

WHO: Speaking at the event are Dr. Michael Fine, director of the Rhode Island Department of Health; Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, consultant medical director in the Department of Health’s Office of HIV/AIDS; and Elaine Parker-Williams, a Liberian doctoral student in the URI College of Nursing.

WHERE: Paff Auditorium at the URI Providence campus, 80 Washington St., Providence.

WHEN: Today, Oct. 16 from 6 to 9 p.m.
