The College of Nursing would like to congratulate senior nursing student Victoria Szlashta on her homecoming win this past week! Thank you to all of the nursing students, faculty, and staff that donated their pennies on Victoria’s behalf. With your help, the homecoming court raised over $1000 for Shriners Children’s Hospitals. Take a look at Victoria’s picture and bio (courtesy of the URI Student Alumni Association) below!
“Victoria is a senior Nursing major from Cranston, Rhode Island. During her time at URI she has had the privilege of participating in many meaningful experiences and forms of involvement including being an Orientation Leader, a Tour Guide, a URI 101 Mentor, and a founder of Alpha Tau Delta, URI’s professional nursing fraternity. She has held leadership positions in each of the above organizations, and is currently serving as the Program Co-Coordinator of the Tour Guide Team, the Student Program Coordinator of the Orientation Program, Secretary of Alpha Tau Delta, and was previously a member of the Mentor Team. In addition to these on-campus experiences, Victoria was able to study abroad through the College of Nursing where she completed clinical and service learning in the Dominican Republic last January. Her future aspirations include earning a masters or doctorate degree in Nursing, and work in Labor and Delivery in order to empower and educate women here and abroad. She is extremely thankful for the amazing friends she has met during her time at URI, and hopes to be able to give back to the university as much as she has gained someday!”
