Dr. Hesook Suzie Kim to lecture on ‘Capturing the Complexity of Nursing Practice’ Oct. 16 at the NEC
The latest installment of the URI College of Nursing Distinguished Lecture Series featuring former Dean and Professor Emeritus Dr. Hesook Suzie Kim is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 16, 4:30 p.m. at the RI Nursing Education Center, 350 Eddy St., Providence.
Dr. Kim is expected to lecture on “Capturing the Complexity of Nursing Practice.” The lecture is free of charge and open to the nursing community, but registration is requested. Click here to RSVP. A reception will follow the lecture. Parking is available in the adjacent South Street Garage.
Dr. Kim holds a BSN and a MSN from Indiana University, along with a Ph.D in sociology from Brown University. She was a professor of nursing at URI from 1973-2004, serving as dean of the College from 1983 to 1988. She also was a Professor II at the Institute of Nursing Science at University of Oslo in Norway from 1992 to 2003.
Dr. Kim has published extensively in the area of nursing epistemology, theory development in nursing, the nature of nursing practice, and collaborative decision-making in nursing practice as well as in various areas of clinical nursing research. She is also known for writing the textbook, “Nursing Theories: Conceptual & Philosophical Foundations,” first published in 2000. Her latest book, “The Essence of Nursing Practice,” was published in 2015.
This continuing education activity has been submitted to the Northeast Multistate Division (NEMSD) for 1.0 Contact Hour. NEMSD is an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA).
