New faculty member: Professor Assistant Professor Kate Healy

The University of Rhode Island College of Nursing welcomes Assistant Professor Kate Healy to the college for the start of the fall 2022 semester. Learn about one of the College’s newest professors:

Education: DNP, Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions; MSN, University of Pennsylvania; BSN, University of Pennsylvania.

Recent experience: Associate Director of Nursing, Associate Professor, Norwich University, Northfield, VT; registered nurse, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Lebanon, NH), Gifford Medical Center (Randolph, VT), VA Medical Center (White River Junction, VT); Nurse Practitioner, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY).

Teaching focus: “My teaching focus and where I hope to develop my scholarship is in active learning in the classroom, lab/simulation, and clinical settings.  I strive to make classroom content relevant to nursing practice to help make concepts more tangible for students.  My goal is to help students develop their abilities to apply the nursing process to practice.”
