URI nursing students inducted into ‘network of world’s top nurses’

URI hosts Sigma honor society induction, welcoming nursing students from around the state

The University of Rhode Island College of Nursing hosted the first in-person local Sigma national honor society induction ceremony at Edwards Auditorium Saturday morning, with Associate Dean Susan Desanto-Madeya overseeing the induction of 105 students from around the state.

Thirty-eight URI nursing students joined colleagues from Salve Regina University and Rhode Island College in joining the international community of nurses, dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, teaching, learning, and service through the cultivation of communities of practice, education and research.

Formerly known as Sigma Theta Tau, the organization is a “network of world’s top nurses who share the commitment to advancing and transforming global healthcare. Induction into the honor society recognizes your superior academic achievement, leadership and dedication to the nursing profession.”
