Biography

Christine McGrane has spent her entire career in pediatric nursing, working in acute, homecare, and community settings. She is a nationally Certified Nurse Educator, Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, and has 15 years of experience in the K-12 educational setting as a former RI Certified School Nurse Teacher. She teaches pediatric nursing primarily in the clinical and simulation setting and has served as a faculty leader on student service trips to the orphanages in Jamaica through Mustard Seed Communities.

She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Delta Upsilon Chapter-at-Large International Honor Society for Nursing and the American Nurses Association/Rhode Island State Nurses Association (ANA/RISNA). In addition, she is a member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL); the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators (ACHNE); and a member of the Family Caregiver Alliance of Rhode Island (FCARI).

Chris has been involved in a multi-agency and academic partner statewide project providing in-home and group respite for family caregivers. Her role in this project is focused on children living with special needs. This has led to an inter-professional experience involving group respite events on Saturdays. Nursing and students from other healthcare related majors participate in these offerings which she supervises. She completed her Ph.D. in December 2023 with a study on parental stress, the use of a group respite program, and measuring change in parents’ self-reported stress.
