B.S. in Nutrition
Mission and Goals
The mission of the B.S. in Nutrition program is to provide evidence-based knowledge and experiential opportunities to prepare students to pursue pre-health professional degrees, graduate studies, and careers in public health, government, or the community.
Program Goals and Learning Objectives
- Goal #1: Graduates will be well prepared to apply nutritional science to improve wellness at the individual and community levels.
Learning Objectives- Analyze, synthesize, and evaluate scientific literature to make ethical, evidence-based practice decisions about nutrition and healthcare.
- Create public and community programs in nutrition using knowledge of nutrition and human health.
- Integrate justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles to decisions related to food and food systems.
- Goal #2: Graduates will be well prepared through rigorous scientific training as researchers in nutrition and health for post-graduate opportunities including completion of a graduate program and/or entering the workforce.
Learning Objectives- Demonstrate understanding of nutritional science at a biochemical level.
- Demonstrate mastery of nutritional science concepts orally and in writing.
