Multicultural Therapy Clinic

Our Services

We offer individual multicultural therapy for a wide range of concerns, particularly for those who are interested in exploring or addressing how these concerns intersect with—or are caused or worsened by—experiences of marginalization, discrimination, and social and structural inequities. Our approach provides culturally-sensitive support that honors minoritized identities, affirms diverse lived experiences, and recognizes the strength and resilience within marginalized communities. Specific concerns we address with clients include (but are not limited to):

  • Anxiety and Depression
    • Including the impact of racism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of discrimination on anxiety and depression symptoms.
  • Behavioral Health Concerns
    • Including substance use, sedentary lifestyle, limited access to nutritious food, and disrupted sleep—factors shaped by systemic barriers and environmental stressors that can negatively impact both physical and mental health, especially among individuals facing marginalization.
  • Chronic Pain and Somatic Symptoms
    • Which may be influenced by cultural norms around emotional expression and exacerbated by disparities in healthcare access and quality.
  • Coping with Disability and Chronic Illness
    • Addressing ableism, medical discrimination, and the emotional impact of living with chronic health conditions.
  • Identity Exploration and Affirmation
    • Navigating intersectional identities, identity development and affirmation, and societal expectations.
  • Indigenous and Native Mental Health and Healing
    • Addressing the intergenerational impacts of colonization, historical and ongoing cultural erasure, land dispossession, boarding school trauma, and systemic neglect of Indigenous health.

  • Medical Mistrust and Barriers to Care

    • Often rooted in cultural or familial expectations, racialized pressure to succeed, or “model minority” stereotypes, contributing to anxiety, burnout, and identity conflict.
  • Relationship and Family Challenges
    • Including intergenerational trauma, cultural and religious expectations, and family acceptance related to diverse identities.
  • Stress Related to Discrimination and Systemic Oppression
    • Including workplace discrimination, housing insecurity, immigration-related stress, and barriers to education or healthcare.
