June courses offer Pharmacy CE after hours

Pharmacists from around the region will gather in Warwick in June to discuss key pharmaceutical issues facing health care providers today and earn valuable Continuing Education credits, all at a convenient, after-hours time.

The URI College of Pharmacy Office of Continuing Professional Development and Rhode Island Pharmacy Residents and Fellows will offer two mini courses in June. The first session is scheduled for June 19, 5 – 9:45 p.m. at the Radisson Airport Hotel, 2081 Post Road, Warwick; the second is set for June 26, 5 – 9:15 p.m. in Avedisian Hall on the Kingston campus, 7 Greenhouse Road. Dinner begins at 5, followed by sessions beginning at 5:45. Both courses offer Continuing Education credits for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The first session will focus on such topics as aspirin for primary prevention, prevention of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease, and polypharmacy in patients with end stage renal disease. The second session will tackle new FDA labeling changes to codeine and hydrocodone in the pediatric population, deprescribing, and emerging therapies in specialty pharmacy.
