The College is tops in the region for board pass rate, employment rate upon graduation, graduating student satisfaction rate, residency matches and federal research funding
The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy continues to be a national leader in pharmaceutical science, research and education, recently earning a top regional ranking in several quality metrics used to measure a college’s effectiveness.
The College has earned a #1 ranking in New England in Pharmacy Board Pass Rate for 2019, according to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. URI graduates passed the exam in their first attempt 93.3% of the time, roundly beating the national average pass rate of 88.3%.
The URI College of Pharmacy has also been ranked #1 in New England in employment rate upon graduation (97%), and program satisfaction among graduating students (100%), according to a survey of United States class of 2019 graduates conducted by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
Most recently 44 members of the Class of 2020 were successful in obtain postdoctoral residencies in first phase of ASHP’s highly competitive match program. This gave the College the highest number of matched students in the Northeast region.

In addition, the URI College of Pharmacy has also been ranked #1 in the Northeast region in federal research funding. That follows on the College’s #8 national ranking in the same category in fiscal 2019, after securing more than $18 million in federal research funds. It was the second top 10 ranking for the college in a row, after it was ranked #10 in the nation in fiscal 2018, having secured more than $12 million in federal research funds. The number 8 ranking — among 143 pharmacy colleges in the country — is a record for the College for the third year in a row.
