Pharmacists from around the region will gather to discuss key issues, earn continuing education credit; register today
Pharmacists from around the region will earn valuable continuing education credits while discussing some of the most pressing current pharmacy and healthcare issues during the 37th annual Seminar by the Sea Northeast Regional Conference presented by the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy Office of Continuing Professional Development.
The flagship professional development conference hosted by the College brings health care professionals from all over the region to Rhode Island. This year’s conference, “Emerging from the Shadow of the Pandemic: Pharmacy Lights the Way,” will be delivered both virtually and in person on March 17-18. The in-person conference will be held at Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina, 1 Goat Island, Newport. The virtual conference will be presented via Whova, our conference event platform. Whova is available to attendees through a web and mobile app, and integrates seamlessly with Zoom video conferencing software. Attendees will receive links to the app and a unique event code after registering.
Seminar By the Sea brings together about 300 pharmacists, students and clinicians from multiple health care disciplines for two days of presentations and discussions. The conference includes up to 15 contact hours of continuing education credit for pharmacists as well as opportunities for professional networking with colleagues and healthcare industry representatives in meeting rooms and the exhibit hall.
This year’s conference includes presentations on topics including asthma guidelines, leadership, diabetes management, sexually transmitted infections, social determinants of health, cannabis, pharmacy law, vaccines, COVID-19 treatments, dermatology, and wellness and resiliency. The keynote presentation, “The Leadership Prescription,” will be delivered by Jesse McCullough, PharmD, founder of Keystone Pharmacy Insights.
Other presenters include a host of URI College of Pharmacy professors, along with such experts as:
- Erica Hardy, MD, MMSc, Director of Women’s Infectious Disease Consult Service, Obstetrics and Gynecology Center at Women & Infants Hospital.
- Catherine Li, PharmD, BCIDP, Clinical Pharmacist Specialist, Infectious Diseases, and Co-Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship at Women & Infants Hospital.
- Carla M. Evans, MSN, APRN-CNP, adjunct faculty member at Salve Regina University Department of Nursing and nurse practitioner at SkinPros, LLC.
- Andrew Saal, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, Providence Community Health Centers.
- Jonathan Gates, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Accountable Care, Providence Community Health Centers.
- Lillian Nieves, PharmD, Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services, Providence Community Health Centers.
