Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this application-based program, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe the patho-physiology, diagnosis, and treatment of hypercalcemia of malignancy;
  • Using primary literature, develop a recommendation for intravenous bis-phosphonate therapy in patients with hypercalcemia of malignancy;
  • Develop a plan to assess and treat a patient’s hyper-calcemia of malignancy;
  • Compare and differentiate the 3 major guidelines for clostridium difficile infections (CDI);
  • Apply evidence-based medicine to recommend patient specific treatment options for CDI;
  • Explain the mechanism of action and toxicities of high-dose methotrexate therapy;
  • Synthesize an appropriate monitoring and pharmacotherapeutic management plan for common high-dose methotrexate toxicities.

Upon completion of this application-based program, pharmacy technicians will be able to:

  • Compare and differentiate the 3 major guidelines for clostridium difficile infections (CDI);
  • Review the primary literature for intravenous bis-phosphonate therapy;
  • Explain the mechanism of action of high-dose methotrexate therapy.

Community, hospital, managed care & consultant pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and mental health professionals and other interested healthcare professionals.

On-site registration available, as space permits. Registration fee on or before June 17, 2015 is $45.95; after June 17, 2015 registration is $55.95. Registration fee includes program materials and a light dinner. Registration fees, subject to a $15 processing fee, will be refunded provided written notification is received 7 days prior to the program.
 
Continuing Education Credits
acpesmallerThe University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This application-based program has been accredited for 2.0 Contact Hours (0.2 CEUs) for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Attendance and completion of online program evaluations at the conclusion of each session are required for a statement of credit. No partial credit is available for this program.  Evaluations must be completed within 30 days of the program. CE data will be reported to the CPE Monitor upon completing the program evaluation though it take up to 72 hours to show up in your CPE Monitor account.  CPE transcripts and statements of credit are available via the CPE Monitor at www.mycpemonitor.net.
