URI College of Pharmacy Dean Paul Larrat is being honored for his “career achievements and strong leadership in the region,” as he is named one of the original “25 Over Fifty-Five” by Providence Business News.
The newspaper announced its inaugural class for the award on July 12, honoring executives in the fields of finance, medicine, education, real estate, manufacturing, design, technology, law and philanthropy.
Larrat has been dean of the College of Pharmacy since 2013 and a professor in the College for more than 30 years. His research and teaching efforts have focused on drug use in special populations, health policy, and health economics issues. He is the founding coordinating dean of the Academic Health Collaborative.
In addition to his extensive work at URI, Larrat has served as a Congressional Health Policy Fellow with the United States Senate and as a NASA Fellow in the Space Life Sciences Lab at Kennedy Space Center. He also served as executive vice president of operations for Bioscrip, in Elmsford, NY.
