Nancy Tortolani coordinates College’s Pharmacy Outreach Program
Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor Nancy Tortolani has been recognized by Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos and by the Leon Matthieu Senior Center in Pawtucket for her work on the College’s pharmacy outreach program.
In this program, Tortolani represents the College of Pharmacy at community health facilities and partner organizations, including at Leon Matthieu. There, she helps with monthly presentations, blood pressure screenings and Medicare Part D workshops and health fairs.
“We would like to honor you this year for your interest and dedication in promoting the health of older adults,” Center Director Mary Lou Moran said. “We have been so fortunate all these years of having you, other pharmacy department educators, and, of course, pharmacy students providing health education programs to our members and the community as well as health screenings.”
Tortolani is a registered pharmacist with experiences in retail pharmacy, industry, teaching, and with the RI State Approved Training Program in Drug Administration, in addition to her work with the outreach program. Her primary focus is on providing seniors in the community educational, counseling and cost referral assistance to maintain a healthier, independent lifestyle. She also precepts Pharm.D. candidates “to enhance, strengthen and augment their understanding and counseling of medication issues specific to the older and indigent population.”
