Research
- The role of pharmacist as vaccinators has become a standard of practice with all 50 states allowing pharmacists to administer vaccinations
- The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) developed a certificate program that is endorsed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This program consists of 12- hours of self study modules with case studies, an 8- house seminar series, and a hands on injections assessment.
- The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education ( ACPE) standards 2.0, updated in 2011 do not specifically address immunization training, but instead refer to education in this area as part of health promotion and disease prevention. It also states students should be prepared for “administrating medications.”
