Biography

Dr. Matson is a board certified pediatric pharmacy specialist with more than 15 years of clinical experience.  She currently is a preceptor for introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Dr. Matson is an active member of professional organizations including American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPAG).   She has served as chair of the ACCP Pediatric PRN Education Committee and PPAG Advocacy Committee, and currently sits on the PPAG Board of Directors. 

She coordinates PHP 440: Advanced Pediatric Pharmacotherapy elective course and teaches pediatrics within other pharmacy practice courses. Through the pediatric elective, Dr. Matson has established an outreach initiative that provides pharmacy students an opportunity to teach health education and substance misuse prevention to local schools in Rhode Island.

Judicious antimicrobial use to prevent and control bacterial resistance, vaccines within the pediatric population, as well as, adolescent substance misuse, childhood nutrition, pediatric obesity and metabolic syndrome; education of pharmacy students.
