Biography

Lynn E. Taylor, MD, FACP, FAASLD, FIDSA, is an internal medicine, primary care, HIV and viral hepatitis physician, clinical researcher, educator and public health advocate focused on whole-person medical care of people who use drugs, prevention and care of hepatitis C virus infection (HCV) in vulnerable populations, and improving the health of drug-involved populations. For 25 years she has worked enhancing prevention and treatment of infectious consequences of opioid use disorder (OUD) including HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and engaging in related research and policy work to improve individual and public health. She has worked on numerous NIH, ACTG, CSAT/SAMHSA, PCORI and private foundation-funded studies.

For four and a half years Dr. Taylor served as a Member of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Health Resources and Services Administration Advisory Committee on HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STD Prevention and Treatment. For the World Health Organization, Dr. Taylor served as advisor on people who inject drugs (PWID) and people living with HIV/AIDS for the Standard Guidelines for Screening, Care and Treatment of Chronic HCV. For the International Network on Health and Hepatitis in Substance Users she served as member of the International Consensus Guidelines Committee Management of HCV in PWID. She has been honored for her work at The White House.

Dr. Taylor was Rhode Island site Principal Investigator for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute 6-year research award, “Clinical Management of HCV Infection: Patient-Centered Models of HCV Care for People Who Inject Drugs (PWID).” She developed and directs Rhode Island Defeats Hep C (RID Hep C), http://www.ridefeatshepc.com, a comprehensive program to Identify, Treat, Cure, Prevent and Eliminate HCV in Rhode Island. Part of this effort includes developing and directing co-located HCV care at opioid use disorder treatment, HIV health and primary care programs, where people can most readily access medical care.

Dr. Taylor is Co-Founder and Co-Director of, MomDocFamily (https://sites.brown.edu/momdocfamily/). The mission of MomDocFamily is to provide mentorship and support for women physicians facing the challenges and rewards of combining a medical career with motherhood.
