Marilyn Barbour, Pharm.D., FCCP, BCPS

Biography

Dr. Barbour was appointed at the University as an Assistant Professor in 1983. In 1985, she developed her clinical practice, research and experiential teaching site in cardiology at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. She also taught in the classroom in the areas of cardiovascular disease and pharmacotherapy.

During her tenure, Dr. Barbour focused her funded research on clinical studies of patients with cardiovascular disease in addition to collaborating on pharmacoepidemiologic studies of cardiovascular drug use.  Dr. Barbour also took on on significant administrative roles, both within the College of Pharmacy and at the University level.

In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Dr. Barbour conceived, and implemented the College’s highly successful non-traditional PharmD program, from which 100 B.S. degree pharmacists graduated with their Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She chaired accreditation self-studies for the College of Pharmacy and also co-chaired  accreditation self-studies for the University.
