Biography

Dr. Kelly received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island in 2009 and has experience in community, institutional, long-term care, and regulatory settings. His background includes practice in traditional dispensing roles as both a staff pharmacist and pharmacist-in-charge, as well as extensive & specialized experience in compliance and regulatory affairs as the former Chief Compliance Officer for the Rhode Island Board of Pharmacy.

Dr. Kelly currently serves as a Teaching Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Rhode Island with primary focus in the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process Laboratories. Dr. Kelly centers his classroom instruction around the development of professional communication, skills-based competencies, and occupational skills for students in the professional program. His interests in teaching revolve around the administrative, legal, and social aspects of pharmacy practice with focus on preparing students for the complex ethical and clinical challenges they will face while in practice.
