The Public Administration and Policy Professional Certificate helps students gain a well-rounded understanding of the public sector and its impact on communities.
Students completing this certificate program will have an opportunity to learn about the historical and theoretical foundations of public administration and policy, ethical decision-making strategies, diversity and inclusion in the public sector, and an elective course focused on developing core skills or experience for a career in government, non-profits, or policy.
This certificate may be stacked to meet the 36-credit MPA degree.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from any field. An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or better.
- Students without an adequate GPA should contact us at online@uri.edu before applying to discuss criteria.
- Personal Statement
- Should demonstrate good writing skills and explain why you are interested in a certificate program. This personal statement can include, but is not limited to:
- a statement of your aspirations for a career in public service or in the nonprofit sector
- how a graduate certificate will facilitate advancement in your public service or nonprofit career
