Surely, in the light of history, it is more intelligent to hope rather than to fear, to try rather than not to try. For one thing we know beyond all doubt: Nothing has ever been achieved by the person who says, ‘It can’t be done.’
Eleanor Roosevelt, You Learn By Living
This season reveals, more clearly than any other, that hope is more powerful than fear, and that all good things are made possible by love and hope.Dave and Lynn Baker-Dooley
Artwork by Lindsey Corse ’21 from Cumberland, R.I. Lindsey is pursuing a degree in landscape architecture, and minoring in sustainability and community planning. For this piece, she used a daytime image of Roosevelt Hall as a base and manipulated the photo using Adobe Photoshop — digitally drawing in snow, snowman, and lighting — to create a peaceful winter night scene. Lindsey likened the process to the perspective renderings she creates for landscape architecture project proposals, using a combination of hand-drawing and photo manipulation. Her artwork was selected from entries submitted this fall by URI students. Dave and Lynn Baker-Dooley are proud to support URI’s student artists.
