State of the University

University of Rhode Island President Marc Parlange delivered his annual State of the University Address on Friday, September 19, in Edwards Hall on the Kingston Campus.

“At URI, our greatest strength has always been our people—the faculty, staff and students who make discovery possible and who bring our mission to life,” said Parlange. He noted several successes the University achieved in the past year, including the R1 designation, multi-million dollar gifts and research awards, and athletic victories, and reflected on “why we are here, what unites us as a community, and where we are headed.”

For more than 130 years, the University of Rhode Island has been dedicated to serving the people and communities of Rhode Island as the state’s flagship public research university. Today, we are continuing that tradition, attracting faculty, staff and students from around the globe who are making a difference in Rhode Island and in our world.
