At New Faculty Orientation, you’ll meet your new colleagues and members of the administration, and participate in a series of sessions that address important topics in professional development to help you thrive in your new role at URI.
New Faculty Orientation – Main Event
Day 1 – Monday, August 31, 2026 (1:00 PM – 5:30 PM)
Day 2 – Tuesday, September 1, 2026 (9:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
Format – In Person (Avedesian Hall, Pharmacy Building)
This event offers an opportunity to connect with fellow new faculty members and university administrators while engaging in a series of breakout sessions covering key topics essential for a successful transition into your role at URI.

The purpose of the New Faculty Teaching Pathway is to develop durable teaching strategies, relationships, and navigational capital that you can use to be successful throughout your career at URI. URI ITS Teaching and Learning Services is pleased to announce Tech Day 2026. For the first time, the annual virtual conference will be open to educators beyond the University of Rhode Island community.
This year’s theme, How to Train Your Tech: Harness Emerging Tools as Allies, focuses on practical and innovative technologies that support teaching and learning in higher education. Sessions will explore how emerging tools can become effective partners for both faculty and students.

The University of Rhode Island Libraries leverage cutting-edge technologies to ensure optimal access to and delivery of information for both the University and the State of Rhode Island. As integral partners in the University’s mission of teaching, research, and service, the Libraries acquire, organize, and preserve materials in various formats while offering guidance on their effective use. Additional resources include our institutional repository, makerspace, Interlibrary Loan service, and membership in the Boston Library Consortium. This session will provide an overview of our services and address any specific questions. Presented by Professor Amanda Izenstark, Reference & Instructional Design Librarian.
