Mail

Metered Mail

All mail is metered using updated Pitney Bowes machines. These machines qualify for metered mail discounts. If you have a large volume of letter sized envelopes to mail, please have them nested properly with the flaps closed so we can feed them through our machines.

Interoffice Mail

Interoffice mail is delivered daily to all departments on the Kingston Campus. Narragansett Bay Campus mail is retrieved from the Mail Room on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Marketing Mail (Bulk Mail)

USPS Marketing Mail is offered to all URI departments who want to send mail at standard, nonprofit rates. All mailings must be at least 200 pieces and must meet USPS required guidelines. Please see the link USPS Marketing Mail for more information.

Use of the University Bulk Indicia is coordinated through Printing Services. Please contact Printing Services for more information.

Business Reply Mail

Our Business Reply Mail (BRM) permit is available for distributing business reply cards, envelopes, self-mailers, cartons and labels. BRM allows us to receive first-class mail and priority mail back from customers by paying postage plus a per piece charge on the mail returned. Please contact Mail Services for more information.

Addressing Mail

Addressing mail pieces directly or imprinting addresses on labels for first class mail or USPS Marketing Mail (bulk mail) can be done at Mail Services in coordination with Printing Services. Address lists must be provided as an Excel spreadsheet and will be reviewed upon submission. Please contact Printing Services for more information.

Express Mail

Express shipping for documents can be processed through Mail Services. Shipments must be dropped off by 1:00 p.m. to be sent out the same day. All shipments must have a mail card attached that includes an email address for tracking information and a requested shipping speed (e.g., overnight, priority or 2 day shipping, am or pm delivery).

International Mail

USPS international flats (less than 3/4″ thick) and letter mail does not require a USPS customs form. International shipping through FedEx requires a recipient phone number and email address for tracking purposes. A custom’s form is not required.

USPS International Priority or Express Mail requires a 3-part PS 2976-R customs form. At the department’s request, Mail Services will send the form via interoffice mail.
