Student Spotlight

  • Anastasia Rodova ’26 - I think the biggest strength of being a Public Health major is that we learn so much about the population as a whole, and we get to dip our toes into diverse fields within public health. There are so many amazing professors here in the Public Health Department and just learning from them is a great opportunity.
  • Julia Spina ’26 - What surprised me most about URI is all the different majors and the amount of different opportunities you can explore while here. There are so many ways to get involved whether it’s clubs, sports, Greek life, internships, tutoring, etc. I believe that everyone can find something that they are passionate about.
  • Bunmi Ogunmola ’26 - I chose to major in Public Health because I knew that I wanted to work in the field of healthcare and help others, while also learning about the protection and improvement of health in our communities through education, policies, research, etc.
  • Amelia Katula ’26 - I was most surprised by how easy it was to find my circle at URI. Coming from a small high school, I was somewhat intimidated by the student body size and was worried about finding my place. However, through my communities, I was able to easily meet new people and create life long friendships.
  • Jordan Simpson ’25 - The biggest strength of the Public Health major is the connections it facilitates inside and outside of the classroom. I utilized the wisdom and connections of my professors when applying for internships and researching graduate schools. They have years of experience in academia and in the world of Public Health which is an amazing tool to utilize!
  • Jonathan Shaw ’25 - The best part of my experience here was playing hockey, and being a part of a major that I was invested in made every single day fun. I was able to go to class and learn about things that I'm passionate about and then go play the best sport in the world!
  • Marieanna Anderson ’25 - What I appreciated most about URI was that the classes felt relevant and practical for the real world, and the flexibility in course options was paired with amazing, supportive teachers.
  • Lydia Gladski ’25 - One of the biggest strengths of the Public Health major is its diversity; the field opens doors to a wide range of careers. Although I’m pursuing a clinical path, I know that my public health foundation will help me see the bigger picture, understanding not just the patient in front of me, but also the larger factors that affect health and recovery.
  • Isabelle Boullier ’24 - There is broad opportunity in pursuing a career in health studies. URI does a great job offering specializations that touch on many aspects of public health, along with study abroad opportunities, extracurriculars, and special events.
  • Lucy Kaczmarski ’24 - In my opinion, the greatest strength of this major is its versatility. You may start on the same path as your classmates and end up heading in completely different directions. There is no "right choice" - it's all right.
