RI-INBRE and URI College of Pharmacy Joint Seminar on Drug Delivery
RI-INBRE and the URI College of Pharmacy hosted the joint hybrid seminar “Pfizer’s Project Lightspeed-Rapid Development of the COVID-19 Vaccine.”
Dr. Advait Badkar, Senior Director of Drug Product Design & Development at Pfizer Inc. conducted the seminar on November 10, 2021. Dr. Badkar leads the cross-functional, multi-site team responsible for the complex formulation and manufacturing process of the BioNTech/Pfizer mRNA vaccine, including scale-up and tech transfer across global markets. His team specializes in novel delivery technologies, emphasizing nanoparticle-based modalities at Pfizer’s facility in Andover, MA, where all the lab scale and pilot scale work for the COVID vaccine products are processed.
